The Esther M. Lederberg Memorial website has been created to make available to the scientific community and the public, some of the accomplishments of the scientist Esther M. Lederberg. However, Esther M. Lederberg also had other cultural interests. Thus, to make the entire website more accessible, an attempt was made to reach an audience in areas beyond science specifically. Three areas of this website were developed to explore the "cultural interests" of Esther Lederberg:

• Literature: Charles Dickens, but other writers such as Jane Austen, Shakespeare, etc.
• Renaissance and Baroque aesthetics: Early Music, dance, costume, etc.
• Eugenics: An aspect of racism sometimes viewed as a part of "genetics", much opposed by Esther M. Lederberg.

As time passes, it is anticipated that the Esther M. Lederberg Memorial website will become increasingly known to the public. It was hoped that some of the cultural interests of Esther M. Lederberg would become more widely known, thus stimuating responses. Some responses have already appeared, and might prove to be of interest to readers of this website. Therefore, they are included here. (It is anticipated that more responses will be added.)
